2009 Recap
New records for participation and donations were set again at the 5rd annual Walk a Mile in my Shoes event. We are so grateful for all of the individuals, business, churches and volunteers that helped make this an incredible event.
Last year over 1,000 people walked the one-mile course from the Horizon Convention Center to the new Mission's new homeless shelter at the corner of Liberty and Memorial Streets to raise funds and awareness about homelessness. These walkers and sponsors helped raised $56,000 last year.
Wow…2009….what an event! Last year's figures were hard to conceive because the event doubled, both participating walkers and funds raised over the year before. This year; 1,800 walkers participated and $70,000 was raised. Praise the Lord!
95 doz. Concannon donuts were consumed as well as 800 cups of Starbucks coffee, 600 cups of Arby's hot chocolate, 27 cases of water from Target, 18 cases of Pepsi products, 5 cases of bananas and 2 cases of apples. What a hungry group!
Since the inception, sponsors and 2,900 walkers have help raised over $178,000 to assist in the work of the Mission.
Again, if you walked, volunteered, was a sponsor or supporter thank you. We trust you were blessed in some manner and experienced God's grace.

The one-mile, non-competitive walk begins at the Horizon Convention Center and stops at the new mission facility, located at 1725 S. Liberty St, just north of the New Life Center. Return transportation to the Horizon Center will be provided by MITS.
You're favorites will be back again this year donating their great products...Concannon Pastries along with Starbucks coffee.

The Top Fundraising Team and the Top Attendance Team will be awarded the Golden Sneaker Awards (only 2 awards available) to proudly display in their choice of location for one year. This is a traveling trophy so it must be returned at the end of one year so other teams have a chance to win them the following year. Click here for additional team information.

The awareness of this event is spreading as attendance and funds raised set records last year...help us break those and set new records this year. Our goal is to raise $60,000 and have 1,100 walkers participate. See the previous walk stats for additional past walk details.
