Previous Walk Stats
New records for participation and donations were set at the 3rd annual Walk a Mile in my Shoes event last year. Despite bitterly cold temperatures, 484 people walked the one-mile course from the Horizon Convention Center to the New Life Center at the corner of Liberty and Memorial Streets to raise awareness about homelessness. These walkers and sponsors helped raised $28,000, an increase of 158 percent over 2006.
Last year, all funds raised were dedicated to the purchase of 92 beds and dormitory furniture for the new facility. The required amount of that need was $93,000. Through the efforts of hundreds of concerned individuals and sponsors, that goal was met. The order for the beds and furniture has been placed.
Since the inception, sponsors and 860 walkers have help raised over $50,000 to assist in the work of the Mission.
