New for 2008

The Golden Sneaker Awards

... and a special drawing to win a $50 gas card.

          Golden Sneaker Award

Two golden sneaker awards are available, "Top Fundraising Team"and  "Top Attendance Team".  Both are traveling awards, meaning they must be surrendered each year; however, your team could possibly win it again.  Each award will have a companion plaque displayed at the Mission with the winning team name and year engraved.

To qualify as a winner of a Golden Sneaker award all funds and/or team member names must be turned in by 9a.m. on 2/9/08.

Teams are encouraged to turn in collected funds by 2/7/08.  Why.....all team members registered when funds are turned in by the above date will have their names included in a special drawing for a $50 gas card, winner will be announced at the event.  Additionally, those members registered will also receive an official Walk a Mile t-shirt so they can wear it to the walk.  The deadline for turning in funds is 4:30 PM 2/7/08.  Funds must be turned into Muncie Mission administration office, 520 S. High St. to qualify for the gas card drawing

Funds may be turned in the day of the event during registration time, 8-9:00 AM.  However, these team member names will not qualify for the $50 gas card drawing.

  •          Setting Goals.... it is suggested that each team member or walker set a personal goal of collecting support contributions from friends and neighbors that add up to a penny for each foot walked.  One penny per foot equals $52.80, for the one-mile walk.  Just think what a team of twenty walkers meeting their goals would do towards the purchase of beds for the homeless!

  •         Handling Donations...a team "instruction kit" will include the following: a large collection envelope with preprinted areas to record donation names and gift amounts, a hardcopy name & donation registration form, sponsorship receipt (for those that give cash and want a receipt), team recruiting detail summary, team member registration form and walk brochure

  •        All teams that raise $1,000 or more will receive special recognition and certificate of accomplishment during the opening ceremony (funds must be turned in by 2/7/08 to qualify)

  •         All walkers will receive an official "Walk a Mile in My Shoes" t-shirt .
