Muncie Mission is first and foremost a refuge for homeless men. Those seeking temporary shelter stay anywhere from one night to one month in our Christ-centered environment; the rest join our year-long addictions recovery program. Both groups are given daily responsibilities in the Mission, attend regular chapels and Bible studies, and have a clean, safe place to stay along with three meals each day.
The Men’s Program is built around God’s Word, and we offer a chance for the homeless and those struggling with addictions to respond to His love and build a strong relationship with Jesus. He alone gives us new hearts and new lives; this is the true path to freedom.
Counselors in the recovery program take the men through three stages of the Twelve Steps, which have relationship to God, knowledge of self and love for others at their cores. The men also develop practical recovery skills, many of which they can put directly into practice as they fulfill responsibilities in the Mission building and the Ray Raines New Life Center. The recovery program takes about twelve months to complete, and those enrolled in it have time after they graduate to find jobs, set up housing, and gradually move back into society.
