COVID-19 RESPONSE

RESPONDING WITH COMPASSION

As the world responds to the pandemic spread of COVID-19, Muncie Mission continues to provide compassionate care for our community’s vulnerable populations. The Mission is closely monitoring fast-changing conditions and recommendations from the CDC, and other federal, state, and local officials.  Measures now in place include:

  • Resident Services — Monitored hand washing and temperature screening is required for entry into the facility and entry into the dining room at every meal. Two serving times have been scheduled for each meal to minimize crowding. Transmission points such as doorknobs, light switches, countertops, and bathrooms are disinfected multiple times each day. An isolation room and quarantine dorm have been designated within the facility should a resident or other guest show symptoms of possible infection.

  • Emergency Shelter Day Room – The Mission Chapel has been designated as a temporary day room for emergency shelter guests to encourage all residents to remain on campus. The day room offers streaming movies, courtesy coffee, and cell phone charging stations.

  • Community Lunches – Daily lunches continue to be offered free to neighborhood and community residents. Lunches are now distributed as curbside carry-out from the entrance near the flagpole at 12:30 pm Monday through Friday.

  • Food Pantry – The distribution of grocery items has been temporarily shifted to the Attic Window parking lot on Memorial Drive. Food pantry hours remain as 8:30 to 10:30 am on Mondays, Tuesdays, and Thursdays. Households may seek pantry assistance two times per month. Other direct assistance to families has been temporarily suspended.

  • Attic Window Stores – All Attic Window Thrift Stores are temporarily closed in accordance with Governor Holcomb’s executive order to suspend non-essential services. The drop-off center at the Memorial Drive location is continuing to receive donations. All other drop-offs are closed.

If you or someone you know is in need of assistance, please call us at (765)288-9122 ext.702.
