Meijer Partners with the Mission to Provide Hunger Relief

People in our community continue to struggle every day to pay their bills and put food on their tables. Some are even forced to choose between the two, a heartbreaking decision that no one should have to make.

The Mission has been chosen to join forces with Meijer and their “Simply Give” food pantry donation campaign to help fill that void for local families and the homeless.

Simply Give helps more than 240 food pantries in Michigan, Illinois, Indiana, Ohio, and Kentucky keep their shelves stocked with food. Since its inception, this program has generated more than $42 million in food donations to those pantries. It also fosters a sense of community by encouraging customers to purchase “$10 Food Pantry Donation Cards”.

The 2018 holiday campaign runs November 18 through December 29.

Cards are available at checkout lanes. Each $10 card is matched by Meijer so the donation turns into $20, then they are given to the Mission to stock their pantries. On December 7, Meijer is bringing back the much-appreciated Double Match Day. Meijer will double match every customer’s $10 Simply Give donation (up to a maximum of $10,000), so your $10 donation turns into $30 worth of food cards.
