MEN'S SERVICES

Muncie Mission works to end homelessness, one person at a time, via a holistic approach — addressing the physical, emotional, and spiritual needs of our guests. We serve men who have lost jobs, faced eviction, battled addictions, fought mental illness, and more. God cares about the whole person, and so do we.

Our approach is to not merely apply a bandage to a problem that almost always requires a long-term solution. Therefore the Mission developed a  long-term recovery program called Liberty Street Recovery Program.  Most noteworthy, it embraces a therapeutic, Christ-centered, twelve-step recovery process.

We provide:

In addition, short-term emergency care is available and guests can stay up to four weeks without committing to long-term recovery.

ALL MEN ARE WELCOME. (Ages 18 and above.)

Call 765-288-9122, extension 110 for shelter information.

Residents going through the recovery program meet with their specific recovery groups weekly.

OUR MEN’S SERVICES

EMERGENCY SHELTER

There are many reasons why someone needs shelter in an emergency, from addiction to job loss, broken relationships to traumatic events.  It is in these stressful moments that the Muncie Mission offers HOPE through our emergency shelter.

The emergency shelter is available for a man to check into any time of day.  Following the initial intake, he will be provided with clothing and hygiene items as needed. The Mission provides three meals per day, a safe sleeping dorm, laundry facilities and opportunities to connect with appropriate community social service agencies.

While the emergency shelter fits the needs of many men, it is not appropriate for all. To answer any questions you might have ( i.e. cell phones, employment, medical issues) please call 765-288-9122, ext 110 and ask to speak with a counselor.

RECOVERY

The Liberty Street Recovery Program is a Christ-centered, Twelve Step program designed for the man who is experiencing drug/alcohol or other addictions. To completely work through all 12 steps a man will be at the Mission for a little longer than 12 months. Because a man cannot be employed during this time the program is free of charge.*

The Liberty Street Recovery program is divided into 3 distinct phases, utilizing therapeutic treatment goals, small group meetings and individual counseling. Each guest of the recovery program is given treatment goals for each of the 12 steps to complete. The treatment goal is designed to give each guest the ability to apply the principle of the recovery step to his daily life and relationships with others. Each guest of the Liberty Street Recovery Program attends groups with the men in his group. They live in the dorms as a group and participate in the volunteer Life Skill Training together. Each of the men develops supportive friendships as they learn how to apply the 12 Steps together throughout their time in the program.

Upon finishing the program, the guest will have learned about his own personality traits, what kind of thinking and emotions trigger his relapses and the recovery tools he needs to avoid future relapses.

For additional questions please call 765-288-9122, ext 110 and ask to speak with a counselor.

TRANSITIONAL LIVING

After a man graduates the recovery program he is eligible to join the transitional living program. Here he will learn to live outside the Mission structure and continue to develop positive life skills. This is accomplished partly through group meetings and individual counseling sessions that focus on studying Biblical examples of following God. Each man also participates in other activities that prepare him to successfully live independently away from the Mission.

For additional questions please call 765-288-9122, ext 110 and ask to speak with a counselor.
